One of the catamarans unveiled in 2022 but destined to receive great interest in 2023 as well is the
Excess 14, the latest from the brand that produces multihulls, part of the Beneteau Group. The shipyard definitely has ayoung and sporty soul, which is fully reflected on this boat: a sporty catamaran not only in looks, comfortable but fun.
Excess 14 – 13.34 m – Sports catamaran nominated among the boats of the year
The hull lines are sleek, with a raised center deck to improve wave passage and asymmetric hulls that reduce drag; the bows have inverted, sloping momentum. On the deck of the Excess 14 we find a particularly steeply pitched deckhouse and a low boom. The mast casing is shifted towards the bow allowing for a very large salon, and also bright thanks to the windows, while on the bulwarks we find portholes with an asymmetrical and modern cut.
Excess 14: Our Test
On deck, the square is really bright thanks to the unburnished windows, a distinguishing feature of Excess. To the left is housed the galley, and forward of the ladder going below deck is the folding chart table while to starboard is the refrigerator, an L-shaped sofa and a table. Three layouts can be chosen for the interior of the Excess 14.
Excess 14, the most interesting being the one with the owner’s cabin and three total cabins. In fact, in this layout, the starboard master cabin has a large area forward that can be converted into an extra cabin with two single beds. For the 4-cabin, 4-bathroom version with separate shower stalls, there is also the option of using each of the four rooms as a crew cabin.
