Temo 1000 arrives: the electric outboard even for sailboats

There is a French company that produces electric motors with smart and functional design, it is called Temo and it will soon launch on the market Temo 1000, its new 1000W power motor. We had already told you about its younger brother, the Temo 450
, perfect for use on tenders. This engine, on the other hand, can also be used on sailboats up to 8 meters in length.
Temo 1000 – A concentrate of power
The engine has a streamlined design very different from the classic thermal outboard engine, in fact the long narrow shaft contains the removable battery and nothing else. At the ends, on the side that ends up in the water we find the three-bladed propeller, while at the other end we find the tiller that allows the direction and acceleration to be governed. By turning the last section of the knob, the thrust of the motor can be adjusted. When Temo 1000 is installed on a sailboat, the tiller can be removed and the engine will simply be used as a thruster at full power. With the very convenient bracket provided, the engine can be installed very conveniently on both dinghies and sailboats. Thanks to the “notch” adjustment, you can raise and lower the motor by adapting it to the depth of the water, so you will have both a short-stemmed and a long-stemmed outboard. You can also choose to rotate Temo 1000 completely on itself to store it inside the tender and without having to remove it from the transom, even on a sailboat. The motor is completely waterproof (IP 67 grade) so there is no need to worry about leaving it exposed to water and weather.
Price, performance, charging time
The removable battery inside the Temo 1000 provides, according to the manufacturer, a45-minute runtime at full power that becomes 1 hour at cruising speed. The removable battery system, however, offers the possibility of extending the range simply by purchasing a second battery to be kept charged and ready for use at all times. The lithium-ion battery is recharged in about 5 hours with the included 220 V charging cable. You can recharge the Temo 1000 even from a 12V power outlet in 12 hours when you are aboard your boat. The engine will be shipped from spring 2023 and is priced at 2,850 euros.
