Here is the new generation of French-style sailboats, those that make practicality their credo. Called Arsouin 40, it is a 12-meter (m. 12.47 x 4.15 m) aluminum electrically powered boat with a generator and integral centreboard (m. 1.10 raised/2.30 m lowered. Superecological!
Arsouin 40 – zero emissions recyclable
You only have to see it to realize that it is a boat for sailing, a lot and really. But packed with everything the market offers today to make it simple, easy, safe, zero-emission.
Starting with the aluminum construction, unusual today but a guarantee of great strength and ease of repair and certainly recyclable.
Cockpit, wheels off the rudder.
To continue with the deck plan and, most importantly, a cockpit that eliminates the rudder wheels, replaced by two rods complete with chairs to steer the boat. All of this increases deck space, which is protected by an ingenious semi-rigid sprayhood/bimini cover system that conceals a battery of state-of-the-art solar panels on the roof.
Hull and green propulsion
The hull is powerful with modern flat lines with considerable width to reduce heeling and increase performance and stability at carrying gaits.
Speaking of electric propulsion, Arsouin 40 is equipped with a steerable hydrogenerator pod instead of the traditional propeller foot that is protected by a shockproof “skeg” at the front. Remember that this boat has an integral lifting keel!
The electric motor is 20 Kw, equivalent to the conventional 40 hp motor at 2/3 the power. The range is 36 miles at six knots, but the 20 kw generator takes care of the power supply along with 800 wc solar panels and the Pod, which, let’s remember, doubles as a hydrogenerator.
Arsouin 40 – Supersimple interiors
Inside, a very simple layout, with two cabins with double beds, an in-line kitchen in the dinette facing a large U-shaped sofa with maxi table. To finish a large bathroom with shower.
A true French-style practical boat, but of the latest generation.
