The news was not exactly a secret, but now there is official confirmation: the America’s Cup 2024, to be held in Barcelona, will have the French K-Challenge Racing among its challengers. The confirmation comes from the defender Emirates Team New Zealand itself and official America’s Cup communication. K-Challenge will then be the fifth challenger along with Luna Rossa, American Magic, Alinghi Red Bull Racing and INEOS Britannia.
America’s Cup – The names at the helm of K-Challenge
At the helm of the French K-Challenge Racing team are Stephane Kandler and Bruno Dubois, both of whom have previous experience in the America’s Cup, in 2007 with the eponymous challenge, and in directing high-level teams. Belgian-born Dubois, in particular, has been involved in the French challenges to the Volvo Ocean Race. The challenge will be supported by the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez .
The names that will make up the sailing team are not yet known, but most likely among the ranks of K-Challenge will be Franck Cammas, a French super star with extensive experience in the foil world, and the helmsman Quentin Delapierre, already involved with Team France in the Sail GP whose men are expected to be involved in the challenge.
