5 used boats from 8.35 to 14.30 m
Passatore – 8.35 m – A piece of Italian nautical history
The first of the used boats we offer is a small piece of Italian boating history. We are talking about a Passatore (8.35 x 3.00 m). The Passatore is the boat that made Cino Ricci, among many others, famous. Designed by sailing great Finot and built by the Sartini family of Cervia, it was constructed of laminated wood by local shipwrights.
It made its first appearance on the race courses in the 1971 Genoa Sailing Week, where hastily set up, it routed the competition.
Due to its great performance, mass production was started from 1972 (filing down the rough edges to allow cruising as well), which led the IOR boat to be one of the greatest successes in recreational boating ever.
The model under the lens can be seen in Jesolo and is a 1974 model. The scafo is completely overhauled in 2021 in terms of both dead work and paint. Mainsail, furling and jib are 2022. Fully equipped and ready to sail, this Passer is looking for an owner!

LM 33 Vitesse – 9.85 m – Small large motorsailer
We continue with the second of the used boats. An “out-of-the-box” model straight from Denmark. An LM 33 Vitesse (9.85 x 3.10 m).
The LM shipyard, an acronym for Lunderskov Møbelfabrik, began as a manufacturer of wooden furniture in 1940, then converted more than 10 years later to the use of fiberglass, also making small motor boats. The first sailboat (LM 27) is from 1972. The skill of the workforce has decreed the success of the Danish shipyard, which produced as many as 3,000 boats, ranging from 22 to 33 feet, from 1972 to 1995.
The LM 33 Vitesse was the “flagship” and is a true small “motorsailer,” characterized by its raised deckhouse and small aft cockpit for the benefit of interior space.
The model we offer, from 1991, can be seen in Spezia and has a double V-cabin, a guard berth, and two dinette berths.

Bavaria 38 Match – 11.38 m – Signed Peterson
The third of the used boats represents the “sporty” turn of the German shipyard Bavaria, which is famous for its boats geared toward family cruising.
With the Bavaria 38 Match (11.38 x 3.71 m) a different path was attempted, entrusting the design to Doug Peterson in collaboration with J&J Design. Peterson, the wizard of the IOR and America’s Cup boats (from his pencil the AC Classes that won in 1992 with the Americans and in ’95 with the New Zealanders, as well as the very fast Luna Rossa of 2000).
The Bavaria 38 Match, which remained in production from 2003 to 2006, was a really fast boat. Especially in the airs, where its hull with little wetted surface area and sail plan with a fairly overlapping headsail ensure good performance in the airs. And inside it was not uncomfortable for cruising, in fact discreetly finished.
Layouts could be chosen with two and three cabins (two aft and owner’s forward). The model for sale, visible in Rimini, is from 2004 and is in excellent condition, ready to buoy.

USED BOATS – Wauquiez Amphitrite 43 – 13.03 m – They called it “Motorsailer”
Convenience, at any cost. And security, of course. Back then they were called motorsailers, but in fact they were boats for sailing and living aboard year-round. The fourth of the used boats for sale on our marketplace is a Wauquiez Amphitrite 43 (13.03 x 4.17 m).
A great classic signed by Donald Pye (of Holman & Pye in Colchester, UK), it was quite successful because 138 examples were launched in the 15 years it remained in production (1975 to 1990). Armed as a ketch (and with along keel and skeg rudder), on deck it has a well sheltered center cockpit and a raised stern a with plenty of hatches.
This makes the aft double cabin truly extra-large in size, with a dedicated bathroom and sofa. In the bow is a double “V” shape (with bathroom), while the saloon, which is also overlooked by a double bunk berth, has an L-shaped galley, two sofas (one C-shaped to starboard and the other longitudinal to port), chart table and a technical stowage area.
The model under review, visible in Rimini, is from 1978 and is perfectly maintained. In 2021 the last capillary refitting operation.

USED BOATS – Marks 47 – 14.30 m – In the sign of Sciarrelli
We close our review of used boats with a Marchi 47 (14.30 x 4.00 m), which the legendary Trieste architect Carlo Sciarrelli designed for the Marchi brothers’ shipyard in Campalto di Mestre. The boat, which could be rigged to ketch, sloop, and cutter, remained in production from 1975 to 1985 for a total of 15 examples made.
Skipper Andrea Fanfani, who with a Marchi 47, Tatì, nacigated 9 months around the world, gives an impassioned description: “The boat has a fiberglass shell while everything else is teak: it has a formidable and gorgeous deck. Completely flush-deck and with a line that has also been taken up by modern designers.
She is quite low on board and quite narrow: only 4 meters at maximum beam for more than 14 meters in length. Definitely tight by today’s standards. And it is definitely heavy-about 17 tons-but it is perfect for long sailing.
I think it is beautiful especially in its side view that highlights what is called a “leapfrog” in the jargon. That is, it has the nose (the bow) slightly upward: a happy design choice because in addition to its unquestionable elegance, it does not allow waves to break on board towards the stern, so that it sails as dry as possible even in heavy seas. I have always appreciated this feature, and I think it will be crucial in the ocean!
It was designed and built primarily for safe navigation. Apart from the weight I have already mentioned, the thicknesses of the structural elements (keel, skeg, “planking,” inner bulkheads, etc.) that make it up are impressive. And it does very well under sail: of course it is not a boat for ‘airs,’ but for medium and strong winds….”
The model for sale is from 1985 and is sloop armed. The last major refit was in 2020; the boat is ready to sail.
