The new Xc47

Many of our clients share the dream of going on a long cruise, often around the world. With this Xc 47, they will be ready and able to achieve this goal whenever the opportunity arises“, words of Thomas Mielec, director of design and engineering at X-Yachts. In fact, the Danish shipyard is returning to renew its Xc line, the one dedicated to the world of long-distance cruisers. For the first time, without Niels Jeppesen, the historic X Yachts designer.

Xc47 – a new era begins

The goal of X-Yachts for the launching of this boat (“probably the best cruiser we’ve ever built“, it says on the X-Yachts website!) is to update the design of the Xc range and make it more current, while maintaining the sailing features of comfort and safety that have made this line so successful.

“In short, the Xc 47 is an elegant high-performance cruiser built for safe and comfortable sailing on the oceans. Great attention has been paid to the design and solutions for small crew sailing to make it safe and easy,” says Thomas Mielec. The cockpit layout is designed to give the helmsman the ability to handle all maneuvers. Four winches, two on each side, are placed in front of the wheels. All halyards are retractable but have reachable stoppers for the helmsman.

The mainsail carriage has been placed in front of the sprayhood; this cockpit arrangement leaves a comfortable “social” area, with sail handling concentrated in the command post area.

Xc47 – the lines of the new boat from X-Yachts

From the stern, the Xc 47 shows high overhangs on the water.

The hull lines have retained the deep V-shaped bow sections and the generous rocker, which is the curvature of the bow-aft line of the hull that is soft to provide a soft transition over the wave. The stern overhang is higher than previous Xc models, providing a reduced wetted surface area when the boat is upright, and greater dynamic stability when the boat is heeled with the entire hull extending the waterline length. In addition, the stern of the Xc 47 has a slight, soft edge that provides extra stability, improved performance in high winds, and more space in the aft cabins.

Interior and price

The mock-up of the XC 47

X-Yachts has not yet released official renders of the interior, but the design team is working on an original-sized mock-up to explore all possible solutions before turning them into reality. This is very important because it allows the designers on the X-Yachts design team to touch on their ideas, and improve them, before making them final.

What is known, however, is the launch price that the XC 47 will have, which is 750,000 euros excluding vat, with the first boat going into the water in early 2023.
