So Luna Rossa’s crew will be more efficient

It is not only the boat’s performance and the crew‘s sailing skills that count to win the America’s Cup. It also takes athletic training, injury prevention, nutrition and mental preparation. This is the purpose of the new partnership between Luna Rossa and Pharmanutra.

Luna Rossa and Pharmanutra join forces

During the presentation of the partnership between Pharmanutra and Luna Rossa, in the evocative Museum of Ancient Ships in Pisa, two central themes were well highlighted, namely: excellence, performance, and a third that hovered in the air, and very little disguised, the passion of Andrea and Roberto Lacorte, owners of Pharmanutra, for speed and sailing, a key driver for this new alliance.

Present at the presentation were many representatives of Team Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli (Max Sirena and Francesco Bruni in the lead), FIV President Francesco Ettorre and the deputy mayor of Pisa, Raffaella Bonsangue who, in closing, presented Max Sirena with the flag of the Maritime Republic of Pisa. Another important piece aboard the challenge of Patrizio Bertelli and his team, once again more pragmatic and motivated than ever to get their hands on the old jug.

Human performance project. What is it?

Here, in detail, is how the partnership will be structured.

luna rossa preparation

Pharmanutra, a company specializing in mineral-based nutritional supplements and medical devices for muscles and joints, will partner with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team in its campaign for the 37th America’s Cup, scheduled to take place in Barcelona, Spain, between September and October 2024.

An all-encompassing partnership, which will come to fruition with the presence of the Cetilar brand alongside the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing team and through the development of the innovative and ambitious Human Performance project.

Athletic preparation, injury prevention, nutrition and mental preparation: these are the main areas on which the Human Performance project focuses, seeking-through the best professionalism in their respective fields and constant comparison between them-the best possible performance.

“We are very happy to have PharmaNutra and its scientific medical project “Human Performance” alongside Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli.” explains Max Sirena, Team Director of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli. “PharmaNutra is a leading nutraceutical and pharmaceutical company that has long worked with sports teams, following not only athletic training, but an overall path aimed at overall performance enhancement. I am sure that this program will greatly help us to set up in the best possible way the preparation of our sailors, enabling them to maximize their performance in the boat ahead of the 37th America’s Cup.”

luna rossa crew

“In the last America’s Cup boat and crew achieved a very high level of perfection that astounded everyone,” concludes Gilberto Nobili, Operations Manager of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli. “But that should not be considered a finish line, but rather our starting point for the next Cup. We are working long and hard on the new boat, constantly improving the hull, systems and strategies, both at sea and ashore, and we want to devote the same attention to the athletic preparation of the sailors, because we know how important it is in racing. We are confident that, thanks to the collaboration of PharmaNutra and the team dedicated to us, we will be able to make the most of the individual characteristics of our guys to achieve an excellent result at the team level.”.
