There is a new entry in Bavaria’s C-Line range, the series of performance cruising boats designed by Italian firm Cossutti Yacht Design. The new Bavaria C46 (14.86 x 4.70 m) will join the existing C38 and C42 models in 2023.
Bavaria C46 – V-Hull
What kind of boat will the new Bavaria C46 be? First of all, it will count on the now “classic” V-shaped fairing that Cossutti designed for the range. That is, with a “V” starting from the bow, thin along the waterline that widens as it reaches the deck providing more forward volume. The edge is very pronounced towards the stern and the maximum beam is set back: another solution to increase cabin space, living comfort and brightness.
The significant width immediately comes out in a comparison with the Bavaria 46 Cruiser, a 2015 boat: with a similar hull length (13.60 m the 46 Cruiser, versus 13.70 of the C46), the beam is a full 35 centimeters longer (4.70 m versus 4.35!).
The hull shape designed by Cossutti, then, has a second advantage: the lines increase stability, lengthen the waterline and improve performance, giving greater feel and mastery in maneuvering. The powerful volume in the bow is to keep the deck drier with wave.
Bavaria C46, a boat a thousand uses
Whether you like to sail as a small crew or as a family, whether you sail relaxed or in a more “sporty” mode, the Bavaria C46 can be optimally configured with six optional winch positions, over 100 square meters of upwind sail area, and optional Gennaker and Code 0.
From the very spacious cockpit, from the sunbeds at the bow bow, or after a moment of relaxation on the large aft bathing platform, you can quickly enter the water.
Decades of the shipyard’s experience in the cruising world have shaped additional smart options aboard the boat. Owners can choose from various layouts ranging from 3 to 5 cabins, including a 4-cabin layout with in-suite beds or a 3-cabin layout with an additional separate room under the companionway. The latter can be used, for example, as storage and tool storage or as a directly accessible locker for wet oilskins.
The first sea trials of the C46 will be conducted in the first half of 2023.
