The German brand Dehler, now inside the Hanse Group, has always stood for quality and cruising boats capable of excellent performance. The new Dehler 46 SQ, an update of the original Dehler 46, is a boat that fits into this tradition and fully respects it. We went to Tuscany, to Cala de Medici, to try out the latest addition on a light windy day. Here’s how it went.

What changes from the original
There are several new features of the Dehler 46 SQ (Speed and Quality) compared to the original version. Inside to bring in more natural light below deck, the hull windows have been enlarged and two additional windows let in light from the boat’s deckhouse as well. New countertop colors and an updated lounge area complete a much brighter lounge that can be configured in four different layouts. There is the possibility of electrically moving the left bench seat to the large living room table.
On the outside, the big news is that, for a more cruising-oriented version, we can also install a rollbar in the cockpit on which the mainsail sheet is deferred to leave spaces clear of rigging. On the other hand, in terms of deck equipment, with the Facnor Flatdeck furling system, the drum is significantly lower, allowing for a longer luff and larger sail areas.
When the wind rises instead, it will be possible to rig a foresail with a flying forestay. In addition, with the deeper keel and rudder in the Competition version, the taller carbon mast, and Quantum high-performance sails, even more potential can be obtained from this Dehler.
The launch price of the basic version will be € 384,900 (excluding VAT).
