Products that work are usually created to solve real problems. Francesco Cescutti, an avid sailor from Udine, has been boating for 40 years and has seen it all at the berth.
Ciappacime, the mooring aid
He recounts, “After endless tosses of ropes from marina docks by diligent boaters to allow boats to be moored when returning from sea trips, and after endless fights with wives/partners/children/guests because they were unable to catch on the fly or easily retrieve from the dock the ropes needed for mooring, often underscored with the Venetian incitement from the captain “ciappa le cime str..!” usually followed by other varied expletives, Ciappacime was born“.

Ciappacime, size and operation
What did Cescutti come up with (by patenting it)? The Ciappacime is simple and ingenious at the same time. It is a small, beautifully designed, for now manual (but soon to be remote-controlled) telescopic device made of stainless steel that measures, when closed, only 30 cm while it reaches 70/90 cm stretched. And which, once inserted into the pontoon in a 3 cm diameter hole (generally already existing), at its maximum extension, allows the lines to be supported when departing and handed out when mooring to be then, given its very small size, left in place or easily removed after use.
So no more tossing, fetching in the water, knotted mooring lines on neighbors’ moored boats.

Cescutti made the Ciappacime with the cooperation of the historic company in Cervignano del Friuli, Tel Luigi srl, which specializes in the processing and production of stainless steel.
The Ciappacime will soon be for sale on the web on major commercial platforms and in specialty stores. As of now, the device can be reserved; however, proposals for patent and trademark assignment or joint venture will also be considered.
