The Hanse 460 is the boat ushering in a new era for the German shipyard, which for the first time entrusted the design to the Berret-Racoupeau studio. A necessary change to bring a fresh perspective and a new approach to the shipyard’s range, as Hanse had not launched anything new in the water for a few years. We went to Lavagna, Liguria, to try it out on a light windy day, and here’s how it went.
Hanse 460 – The Video
A MATURE BOAT
The 460 could be described as a mature boat with several new features compared to older Hanse boats. The aesthetics have become slightly sportier, the bow has powerful volumes and reverse inflection, and for the first time a small edge also appears. It starts from the bow and continues to the middle of the boat, a good expedient for recovering some internal volume in this area and also having an extra element of stability in heavy seas and fresh wind. In the stern, on the other hand, the knee is soft, but this, too, will act as a support in the water when the boat heels over.
In terms of deck layouts Hanse relied on those already tried and tested on the latest models, with the winches close to the wheelhouse. Easy sailing, sailing comfort and large interior volumes are then the concepts that will drive the new 460, and which have always been dear to Hanse.
