Used boats – Gorgeous 1920s Latin gozzo for sale
Like the Latin goiter Bianca, which is over 100 years old and which the well-known sea writer Alberto Cavanna(Many of you will be familiar with his books: Bacicio do Tin Corsair of the Emperor and pirate in the Upper Tyrrhenian Sea, Da bosco e da riviera, or Dreaming of Lions, his last work from 2022) is forced to sell-extremely reluctantly-because of the aftermath of an accident. “Looking for a passionate and capable buyer who can appreciate and maintain it properly (priority issue over price)” he quickly told us.
First we talk about heart and respect, and then we talk about price. Because such a boat deserves it.
Used boats – Bianca, the “Bugatti of the sea”
Bianca is a 102-year-old wooden Ligurian gozzo built in 1920 by the Ferro shipyard in Varazze and was restored by a former carpenter (of the Valdettaro shipyard, known for restoring beautiful vintage boats, such as Carolina of Monaco’s yacht) around 2000 to enter the world of Latin Sail racing. It is an authentic ‘Bugatti’ of the sea.
5.20 m long (7 m with bowsprit), with a displacement (in racing configuration) of 450 kg, Bianca has two rigs: racing with a 9 m mast and one jib for about 26 sq. m. of sail, cruising with a 6 m mast and about 15 sq. m. of sail (two jibs) sail plan studied by designer Sergio Abrami. The cruising sails are Quantumsails.
The rigging is natural hemp (some large skeins and spare skeins), all wooden blocks, brass hardware-it meets the necessary criteria to be considered a ‘vintage boat.’
The boat is equipped with Honda 4-stroke auxiliary outboard, hp. 2.3 air cooling and removable heel. The list of accessories is very long and includes Bosch 41 Ah batteries with battery charger, wooden watertight case like an antique sailor’s chest, mooring awning and summer (cotton) and winter (pvc) storage awning with aluminum rod, 8 handcrafted foam fenders, and much more.
White, price and contact information
Bianca can be seen in Riccò del Golfo, in the province of La Spezia, and is obviously in excellent condition because Cavanna is a strict enthusiast and has made boating culture his way of life. The price is indeed mouthwatering, but it is reserved, Cavanna repeats, “for only those truly interested who can maintain it.”
