and has a diameter of 46 mme resists water up to a depth of 300 meters.

Perfect to have on your wrist both on the boat and during leisure time. Waterproof. Resistant to everything. Elegant. They are the new Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman Auto 46 mm chronographs, true precision instruments rather than mere timepieces.

Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman – The Features

This is demonstrated, to example, the choice to adopt a generously sized case that measures 46mm in diameter and can withstand water up to 300 meters deep. This is also justified in light of being able to ensure optimal reading of the information shown on the black dial.

Readability is further enhanced even in low-light conditions through the use of Super-LumiNova and to the presence of orange touches on the minute sphere and on the end of the seconds sphere, a solution the latter thanks to which it is possible at a glance to keep constant track of the times during a dive.

Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman – Precision

Reliability alone is not enough if it is not combined with absolute precision. The latter is a field where the efforts made by the watchmaker are there for all to see. And the Khaki Navy Frogman Auto 46mm is no exception. Regulating the hours, minutes, seconds functions is the H-10 automatic movement with 80-hour power reserve.

The presence of the spiral made of Nivachron, a state-of-the-art alloy ensures greater resistance to shocks, temperature changes and magnetic fields, and allow excellent operation even under extreme conditions.

Emphasizing the underwater vocation of this timepiece is the presence of the crown protector on the side of the case.

Hamilton Khaki navy Frogman – The options

Rounding out the features of this timepiece is the option of pairing it with a khaki or black wavy strap or, alternatively, a steel bracelet. The Khaki Navy Frogman Auto 46mm is declined in a version with a black Pvd coated case.

Why “Frogman?”

Some of you may wonder why this curious name, Frogman. A name that leaves no room for doubt. It evokes adventurous missions faced under extraordinary conditions. It highlights qualities and values such as boldness, courage, and team spirit. It is not a mystery. Frogmen (U.S. Navy divers equipped to stay submerged very long) have always been, and still are, an elite corps. To join, one must pass extremely difficult entrance tests, and once inside, one must be willing to go through training programs that test one’s psychophysical abilities.

Nothing is left to chance. Starting with the equipment, which must be reliable in every situation, even the most extreme. This is an area in which the world of watchmaking has always made its relevant contribution. Examples in this regard are numerous, but there is one in particular that deserves close attention.

Hamilton, a legend born 130 years ago

It all began in 1892 in Lancaster small town in Pennsylvania. This is where he began to take his first steps, or rather, to turn Hamilton’s hands. Not even 50 years later, the reliability and precision of the timepieces produced by the watchmaker won the attention of the U.S. military to the point of becoming its first supplier.

And it is no coincidence that in addition to the air it was the sea that played a central role as a test bed and research laboratory for developing increasingly innovative and cutting-edge solutions. Qualities the latter of which have always marked Hamilton’s path in the time industry.

Hamilton history
A detail of the Model 22 navy chronometer, which Hamilton made in the 1940s for the U.S. Navy

An endeavor that earned the watchmaker several certificates of merit including the “E” award that the U.S. Navy awarded five times to Hamilton by virtue of its effort between 1943 and 1945 in delivering naval measuring instruments and chronometers whose precision proved instrumental in successfully completing several missions during World War II.

From the command bridge to the frogmen’s wrist is a short step. The collaboration with the U.S. Navy culminated mainly in the provision of wrist timepieces that became part of the frogmen’s equipment. The exploits accomplished by this handful of heroes went down in history and were even immortalized in The Frogmen (The Sea Frogs) film released in 1951 directed by Lloyd Bacon that celebrated their exploits. And it is no coincidence that in that very film Hamilton had his part by ending up on the wrist of the actors. The bond between the watchmaker and the sea has never been broken, and today it lives on through numerous collections that have won the hearts and wrists of many watch enthusiasts and others.

Focus – Hamilton and the partnership with Pierre Frolla

Accompanying the watchmaker into the deep sea is a champion of the caliber of Pierre Frolla. An ambassador of the house for several years, the talented French freediver has collected four world records in his career.

An experience and a life spent in contact with the marine element that today Frolla has made available to the students of the Monegasque Sea Academy.

“As director of the institute,” comments Frolla, “I carry out teaching activities in diving, free diving, water rescue and rescue courses.

We also organize, especially for our younger students, pre-dive workshops that are helpful in learning the importance of values such as humility, brotherhood, honor and courage.

It is important to me to provide them with the right tools to pursue their dreams,” continues Frolla, who recently completed the “Océans Face à Face” project.

It is something beyond the simple logic of a book devoted to the underwater world.

Made with the collaboration of photographer Greg Lecoeur, it was conceived with the aim of increasing public awareness of the beauty but also the fragility of the marine ecosystem. “The volume brings together exceptional photographs that I have just taken and pays homage to marine life and animals,” comments Frolla.

“Most of them are threatened by human activities. We saw them up close. They are both sublime and essential: sharks, cetaceans, rays, moray eels, turtles, crocodiles. Some are closer to humans than we imagined, they maintain very strong relationships with us.

As long as you know how to decode them. Using underwater footage by Greg Lecoeur, the book questions man’s relationship with the sea, the natural environment and wild animals. How much space are we willing to leave for nature as we take over the oceans as we have already taken over the continents? That’s why today I decided to make my knowledge available to raise awareness among young people about the importance of protecting ocean fauna and flora,” Frolla concludes. And in the environmental issue, time is known to play a central role.
