It’s Fountaine Pajot’s turn to be the first to unveil the new generation of catamaran superyachts by presenting renderings of the 23.98-meter-long Fountaine Pajot New 80, which is launched in 2023. Not surprisingly, an overall length of 23.98 meters, just two centimeters short of the fateful 24 meters that are the watershed between a recreational vessel and a ship, with all the consequences in terms of documents, bureaucracy, and constraints.
Fountaine Pajot New 80 – Trendsetter
The Fountaine Pajot New 80 is anticipating a trend. Rest assured, as early as next year catamarans will also grow in size, competing with 24-meter monohulls with the advantage of having at least 30 percent more space than their competitors.
Fountaine Pajot New 80 – The advantage of being a catamaran
Just take the given width of m. 11.09 meters of the Fountaine Pajot New 80 (provisional name) and compare it with an 80-foot monohull, which has an average width of 6/6.50 meters, to realize that a catamaran is worth at least a 30-meter monohull in terms of footprint.
The draft then. The Fountaine Pajot New 80, fishes only 2.1 meters, very little compared to a monohull of similar length, 80 feet, which fishes between 3.5 and 4 meters. This figure clarifies the other competitive advantage of the catamaran superyacht, which, thanks to a shallow draft, can anchor in any bay and enter any port. Which a monohull of the same length cannot do.
Two-Hulled Superyacht
But Fountaine Pajot’s real bet is to make a catamaran a luxury boat, a true superyacht in short. Because until now the catamaran has won the game on space and functionality but not yet on design. Making the aesthetic side of the multihull beautiful, rich, appealing, which until now has lost the “unique and fascinating boat” game.
This is the new challenge for catamaran manufacturers, the perception of beauty and harmony of the object.
The French shipyard has tried hard to change its skin as it enters the world of superyachts, adapting to the canons of the luxury yacht, “stealing” ideas more from motor yachts than from sailboats.
One only has to see the images to realize this.
Two examples to support our thesis, the aft area that opens with two side platforms with balconies and a hot tub in the bow. Motor superyacht solutions without question.
Fountaine Pajot New 80 – Outside
The new Fountaine Pajot New 80 designed by Berrett Racoupeau, the La Rochelle studio headed by Olivier Racoupeau, has an overall length of 23.98 meters, a beam of 11.09 meters and a draft of 2.1 meters with a hard top and integrated superstructures with solar panels.

Key features include two “side wells” with water-facing sofas and drop-down balconies. The beach club features a large aft-facing sofa, two corner sofas, and a central hydraulic platform that can be lowered to connect the two stringers and create a large area on the water or raised to cockpit level.
The aft couch can hold a jet ski, while on the sides of the foredeck are integrated lockers for paddleboards/sup/dive equipment and/or Seabob.
The flybridge offers a large area, with a large table and C-shaped sofa to port, and an L-shaped sofa and other seating to starboard. The two steering stations have been off-center, with a winch for sailing maneuvers positioned away from the lounging areas.
Fountaine Pajot New 80 – The Interior
On the main deck, the salon has large sliding windows and is available with a galley that occupies the entire length of the port side or a version with a galley hidden in the aft hull on the port side.
The galley version off the salon includes long sofas and a chart table forward to starboard of the central cabinets around the mast, while to port is an L-shaped bar, sofas, and an optional wine refrigerator.
Lowered galley accommodation options in the port hull include a version with six double en-suite guest cabins-four in the starboard hull and two in the port hull-and four crew cabins.
The VIP version has a large suite and two standard guest cabins in the starboard hull, while the Maestro version has a VIP aft and a master suite forward with a Jacuzzi on the starboard side, for a total of four guest cabins. Both have three crew cabins.
