A new 100-foot-long sailing novelty is on the way and it bears the signatures of Nauta Design, Reichel/Pugh and Southern Wind, that is, three global excellences that the boating world today can boast in design and shipbuilding. We are talking about the new RP-Nauta 100, a super sporty custom designed to participate in the most important regattas reserved for maxi yachts in the Mediterranean and around the world, but also to take its guests around the world on sparkling cruises where sailing will be an almost indispensable pleasure.
Construction of the new RP-NAUTA 100′ custom yacht is proceeding at full speed at Southern Wind Shipyard in Cape Town, South Africa. The overall concept, exterior and interior design were conceived by Nauta Design, naval architecture is by Reichel Pugh Yacht Design, structural engineering by Gurit, and systems and construction by Southern Wind; the yacht is scheduled for delivery in spring 2020 .
The RP-NAUTA 100′ was commissioned by an experienced sailor who began the design process in 2017 with Nauta Design. Shortly thereafter Reichel Pugh Yacht Design joined the team. Southern Wind was selected as the builder after carefully evaluating a number of other world-renowned shipyards.
The owner’s main goal was to create a high-performance cruising boat with an aggressive, sporty look. Because the owner plans to enjoy this yacht for years to come, its aesthetics and onboard technology are designed to remain trendy long after the launch.
Nauta worked on the custom 100′ project with three main goals: functionality for safe and comfortable sailing, performance for the most famous superyacht races, and sexy and elegant design to not go unnoticed.
The result will be a very fast 63-ton full carbon racing cruiser with a lifting keel (6.10m-3.90m). Its sleek, powerful hull lines and large sail area ensure maximum performance even in light air conditions.
The RP-Nauta 100′ will feature a modern deck design, distinguished by a very low freeboard and an elegant deckhouse that appears to be suspended in the air through the clever and discreet use of teak, glass, and composite. The deck is also very clean in that all the rigging rails have been recessed.
The interior, as requested by the owner, will feature an aesthetic that echoes the aggressive, modern look of the exterior. The interior layout features a spectacular salon with study area, 3 guest cabins with master suite in the bow, and a comfortable and functional crew area in the stern. The crew area includes two cabins, the navigation control station, and the galley.
