THE PERFECT GIFT!
Give or treat yourself to a subscription to the print + digital Journal of Sailing and for only 69 euros a year you get the magazine at home plus read it on your PC, smartphone and tablet. With a sea of advantages.
Forty thousand views of the new website http://velistadellanno.giornaledellavela.com, already 8,500 votes. And it has only been two days since the launch of the 2019 TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year, the most prestigious award in Italian sailing (awarded since 1991 by the Giornale della Vela). Credit to the media and social tam-tam: each of the 100 candidates you find in the initial “poll” is doing his or her best to gather as many votes as possible, across newsletters, blogs, Facebook posts and Instagram. And there are also those who enjoy support from the generalist and local media, as in the case of candidates from Trieste or Sandro Paniccia from Civitanova.

Meanwhile, there has been a turnover at the top of the leaderboard, with the very young Genovese minnow Matteo Sericano jumping to the lead (541 votes at the time of writing) narrowly overtaking the Neapolitan sailor Pierluigi De Felice (530 votes).
We asked Sericano what it’s like to be leading TAG Heuer’s Sailor of the Year, and the answer is in the video below, recorded on the fly as soon as he stepped out of the gym where he is training hard. It is known that the ocean requires proper preparation!
In sly third place was the “usual” Ambrogio Beccaria, followed by Marco Carpinello, Yakamoz (Ovni 41 by Giampaolo and Basak Gentili), Giulio Desiderato, Carlo De Paoli, Mela (Swan 42 by Andrea Rossi), Morgan IV (Grand Soleil 39 by Nicola de Gemmis), Gianluigi Ugolini and Maria Giubilei.
In the meantime, comments on the site from fans are pouring in (over 200) and even coming from abroad! Complete with declarations of love to one of the nominees as we show you, anonymously, next door! Our editorial staff will constantly update you with news, posts on Facebook and stories on Instagram, on the Sail Newspaper profile and on the Sailor of the Year profile.
