We are almost there! Voting for Sailor of the Year starts tomorrow, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m., the most prestigious award in Italian sailing, organized by Giornale della Vela since 1991. The Sailor of the Year is awarded to the one who, based on your preferences on the “big poll” we offer, turns out to be the sailor who most excited you.
THE NEW SAILOR OF THE YEAR SITE
Once again this year it is up to you to decide who will be the best, starting with the online poll with the “big list” of the magnificent initial 100 candidates chosen by the editorial staff with your social help: in the first round the 50 most voted will pass the round, you can vote until 12 noon on February 15!
We’re particularly on a roll in the editorial office, too, because this year we have created a new intuitive mini-site on which voting takes place:
http://velistadellanno.giornaledellavela.com
Tomorrow we will unveil the 100 nominees and the voting will start, but you can already explore the new site now: you will find the rules in detail, the prizes, how the voting stages work. As well as the updated Roll of Sailor of the Year.
Our editorial staff will constantly update you with news, Facebook posts and stories on Instagram, on the Sail Newspaper profile and on the profile dedicated to the Sailor of the Year.

Starting this year there are two new features: it will be possible to cast three votes per stage (and no longer just one)! You can decide to give three preferences to a single candidate, or divide them among several candidates. For the validation of each vote, you will be asked for your email address: we recommend that you type in the right one; you will find out why in a moment:

This year there are two more (mouth-watering) opportunities to vote for your favorite Velista of the Year candidates. Among all the survey voters who will take part in the Evening of Champions (you will be asked to register for the event with the email you provided during voting), on Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m. at theTAG Heuer VELAFestival, will be raffled off a prestigious Aquaracer chronograph from our longtime partner TAG Heuer And, thanks to new partner of the Sailor of the Year Globesailor a long weekend on a boat provided by Sail Italy (May 8-9-10, 2020 in the base of Procida aboard a Beneteau Oceanis 38, 3 cabins and 2 bathrooms, skipper not included).
Warm up your mice! Tomorrow we start!
