At Boot Dusseldorf Nautor Swan presented the state of the art of its production to the press, with a focused focus on the new models, the newly launched Swan 65′, the futuristic ClubSwan 125 and the future Swan 48. The entire Nautor headquarters was present, starting with new CEO Giovanni Pomati and Group Chairman Leonardo Ferragamo. An increasingly Italian-driven group, although the manufacturing bases remain at production sites in Finland. Sites that will be implemented from three to one, to optimize and streamline production and increase the waterfront site by 35 percent.
SWAN 65
Presented as a world premiere in Dusseldorf, Germán Frers created the concept inspired by the 1972 Sparkman & Stephens design: beautiful, reliable, comfortable and fast: “We tried to preserve the softness and harmony of the patterns. New, clean and modern, without being tied to any short-lived fashion” declared the designer. Substantial but gentle volumes in the stern to ensure stability in high-wind carrying gaits without penalizing in light airs, prismatic bow profile to have an effective passage over waves, high stern and low freeboard to complete a sporty aesthetic applied to a boat that can nevertheless be called a blue water cruiser. CLUB SWAN 125
Nautor’s ClubSwan range is the yard’s race division, meaning the ultimate in technology and performance. Signing this line is the eclectic and brilliant Juan Kouyoumdjian creator of never conventional boats. The 125′, which is at an advanced stage of construction, is intended by the shipyard’s intentions to be the fastest inshore monohull around, but it can change its skin and become an Ocean record grinder. The boat will be equipped with canting keel, the canting keel, to express maximum power in all conditions. With angled canting will come into play the drifts, whose shape will be curved. “The main concepts in the conception of this new design were performance combined with luxury and a sailing experience, which means unique sailing sensations combined with extreme comfort in a very special interior,” said Juan Kouyoumdjian, “The owner’s awareness and desire to create a high-performance superyacht are the perfect ingredients for a designer. I think we are doing something that will mark a milestone in the sailing world.” Lightning strike: Kouyoumdjian’s signature is synonymous with “out of the box” solutions that will leave a mark . Data: length. 42.56 m; width. 8.75 m; disl. 64,615 kg; draught 7.4 m;
NAUTOR SWAN 48
The Swan 48 is the most “mysterious” of the models Nautor presented to the press in Dusseldorf. Actually, the German one was only a small preview. Something we can say, however, starting with the fact that the shipyard has already sold seven of them before the official launch that will take place in the coming months, in early summer 2019. Some other information about this boat is already known: it will be part of the Swan line that we could call more “classic,” that is, those boats that re-propose in a modern way the original style of the Finnish shipyard: aesthetics, maximum comfort for cruising and good performance. A line that differs in size from the “maxi” range and in concept from the ClubSwans, which are instead designed to compete in regattas. The size is no coincidence; Nautor wanted to return to producing a boat of smaller square footage; in fact, the 48′ will be the new entry level of the cruising range, once again by Frers. www.nautorswan.com
