There is an Italian excellence that the whole world (of boating, but not only) envies us. It is Cariboni, the absolute benchmark of hydraulics and hydraulics applied to boats.
Cariboni, Italian excellence
We visited founder Gianni Cariboni in Ronco Briantino, Lecco, Italy, at the factory where some 30 employees and collaborators create true plumbing masterpieces. In this beautiful interview Gianni and his staff tell how it all began(in a basement of the apartment building where Gianni lived!) and the Cariboni reality in the present day.
A company that supplied all four AC 75s in the 36th America’s Cup with titanium foil arm handling cylinders and arm joint pieces to the cylinders and hull, who works with Luna Rossa on the 37th Cup, who is aboard some of the world’s most beautiful and high-tech boats. Wally, FlyingNikka, Ice Yachts and so on.
The canting keel
You will discover some tasty anecdotes: for example, did you know that the canting keel, the canting keel that is so common on racing boats today, Cariboni thought of it (and was the first to build it in Europe) as an “antidote” to seasickness? This is just one of the many “pearls” you will find in this video.
Enjoy your viewing!
