Signed by Botin&Carkeek regarding the hull and Patrick Roseo as the person in charge of the deck plan and interior, the Grand Soleil 40 (not to be confused with the Paperini-signed Race) combines racy water lines, designed with an eye toward Orc International tonnage standards, with comfortable interiors and space worthy of larger boats. The hull-it is stiffened with hot-dip galvanized steel cage-has a vertical bow starboard that allows the dynamic buoyancy to be lengthened in navigation by a good 50 cm, while maintaining the same static buoyancy length. is the usual trick used to increase the potential of the hull in medium winds without paying the penalty of a larger wetted area in light winds. In contrast, the transom is less inclined but just as high on the water to limit the drag effect.
Grand Soleil 40 – Deck
The deck has solutions that make it very easy to use and efficient in regattas when you need to maneuver quickly. Basically, one moves well all over, the height differences are low, and the inner location of the moorings allows easy passage to the bow as well as the use of a high-overlap genoa. The large windows on the deckhouse added to the numerous portholes provide good lighting and ventilation to the interior spaces.
INTERIOR
Every inch of the interior massing has been exploited by Patrik Roseo to create well-lived rooms complete with everything needed for comfortable cruising. Of note is the spaciousness of the forward cabin, which places the Grand Soleil 40 New at the top of its class.
