Esse 330: Felci’s new “gem” for good sailing and fun cruising

We told you some time ago about the “Esse phenomenon” (find out HERE), Esse-class boats designed by Felci Yacht Design for Swiss Schuchter Sportboats . Until now there were three boats in production (all one-design) the Esse 850, Esse 990 and Esse 750 . But the shipyard decided to go a step further and conceive, again under Felci’s signature, a more evolved and mature boat: the Esse 330 is in the water, not only designed for racing (as its smaller sisters mainly are), but also equipped with interesting interior volumes for short family cruises.
The design of the brand new ESSE 330 is developed from the fast ESSE 990 Race, whose large dimensions already in this version have always made it a boat that can be enjoyed not only in regattas, but also for pleasant cruising. Hence Schuchter Sportboote’s request to develop a design that was an evolution of the regatta version, taking into account its performance characteristics and ease of maneuvering, but at the same time had more interior volume for short cruises.
“The decision to make counter molds for the interior not only facilitates the layout, but also allowed us to design furniture that is functional to the max, with clean, modern lines.
Made like the regatta version in glass-carbon sandwich, it will have a rig with a more cruising setup, without a stern backstay, a lower mast and a shorter keel,” Felci Yacht Design reports. The conceptual dimension of the project remains that of day sailing for inland waters or coastal sailing, but more versatile, able to push into a true cruising dimension without losing the fun of sailing and ease of handling.
