You who attended the most famous sailing school in Italy
. You who have been fortunate enough to learn to sail in the wild paradise that is Caprera. You who are part of that great community of 130,000 sailors who have passed through, since 1967, the Caprera Sailing Center. Know that you can’t miss the TAG Heuer VELAFestival (May 2-5, Santa Margherita Ligure): this year, CVC will be one of the protagonists of the big sailing festival (and it’s just the beginning of a collaboration with the Giornale della Vela). Here’s why.

THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT TRIBUTE AWARD
Caprerini, are you ready to take the stage at the TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year Evening of Champions (Friday, May 3, from 7 p.m.)? The Caprera Sailing Center will indeed receive the prestigious Tribute to Lifetime Achievement award. This is the motivation: “In 52 years it has trained 130 thousand sailors and more than a thousand instructors: the Caprera Sailing Center, set in the most beautiful and wild spot of the La Maddalena Archipelago, is the most famous sailing school in Italy and among the most important in the Mediterranean. Society changes, generations come and go, but the spirit of the CVC remains!” Come all and celebrate!

WE ARE ALL ECOVELISTS
Prior to the award ceremony, precisely at 5 p.m., CVC will be among the headliners at the event “We Are All Eco-Sailors”: along with ecomariner Matteo Miceli, Mauro Pelaschier, Ambrogio Beccaria on stage also a representative of the Caprera Sailing Center who will speak to you about the Navigation & Environment course, which he has initiated in collaboration with Synergie in the area of biodiversity protection and all the initiatives in defense of our sea promoted by the Center.

TRY THE NEW FIRST 27 WITH CVC
The Santa Margherita event is also an opportunity to present to the public and test Beneteau’s new First 27 super sport-boats, which the Caprera Sailing Center has chosen for the C3 cabin cruiser course, becoming the first school in the world to have them. Inspired by the skipper’s experience of its architect, Sam Manuard, the First 27 is a sturdy, lightweight sailboat that is both sporty and fun thanks to its angular hull running all the way to the stern, vertical broadside, wide waterline width, and double rudder. In addition, the carbon rigging and deep lead keel ensure excellent stability. Powerful, spacious and comfortable, it is equipped with clever details that characterize its designer interior. Approved in CE category B, it holds wind up to force 8. You can get on board and test them with qualified CVC instructors.

MEDPLASTIC BOOTH PRESENCE
But that’s not the end of the story: the CVC will also have a permanent presence on the dock, at the stand of Medplastic (the nonprofit association created by the Journal of Sailing to safeguard the Mediterranean). Here you can find all the course info, from dinghies to offshore, and make contacts to become a goat herder too!

TAG HEUER VELA CUP CAPRERA
As we anticipated, our collaboration with the Caprera Sailing Center does not end at the VELAFestival. On August 25-26, we look forward to seeing you at the Maddalena Archipelago for the TAG Heuer Vela Cup/Caprera Sailing Center. The new leg of the TAG Heuer Vela Cup in the breathtaking setting of the natural harbor of Porto Palma, home of Italy’s most famous sailing school, the CVC. You anchor in the natural harbor protected from all winds, sail a 15/18-mile coastal course slaloming between the enchanting islands of the Maddalena archipelago. Evening party with awards ceremony on the beach in Porto Palma. A unique experience for sailing and sea enthusiasts. An original and unique August vacation end, an experience to tell friends about.

TOGETHER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
Last, but not least, the collaboration with the Caprera Sailing Center will also have an environmental implication: we will give ample space, on our channels and as part of Medplastic, to the CVC initiative of boat monitoring of the health status of the Tavolara Park/Maddalena Archipelago areas.
