The Mirabaud Tacht Racing Image, the international photography competition dedicated to sailing photographers, returns again this year. Like every edition, the images allowed in the contest had to be related to the world of racing or portray athletes training for a regatta. 80 images selected out of more than 130 submissions from around the world(see the full gallery HERE and find out how to vote for your favorite photo). Five Italians also competed: Mauro Melandri, Fabio Taccola, Martina Orsini and Marta Rovatti, and Pierpaolo Lanfrancotti. Various subjects were immortalized: from Olympic sailing to ocean sailing, from foilers to multihulls, through the world of monotypes, photos in short truly for all tastes. Below is a selection of the most spectacular ones with their history.

In Karlstad, Sweden, at the J/70 National Championship, photographer Dan Ljungsvik captures a very grounded edge of a crew from afar. The earth does the rest with its optical illusion

This image was one of the photos commissioned by The Guardian newspaper from photographer Grahan Snook for its feature on Alex Thomson and his jaw-dropping new IMOCA 60, Hugo Boss.
