Today’s appointment with the Ports 2021 Special is with the Capo d’Orlando Marina, a marina awarded a Blue Flag for 2021 for its totally sustainable management.
Among the 81 Italian port facilities, the only one in all of Sicily, to have received the Blue Flag 2021, a prestigious award given annually to honor those locations that ensure proper environmental protection of the sea and its cleanliness, is the
Capo d’Orlando Marina
.
The port
A work carried out in public-private partnership, through the instrument of project financing, the new
tourist port of Capo d’Orlando
was inaugurated in July 2017, after only two years of work. And here it is today, presenting itself to boaters as a modern marina equipped with all amenities and beautifying the Sicilian coast: in fact, the landing place was built in harmony with the surrounding landscape, thanks to the shape of the buildings, the care of the greenery, and the light and bright colors. The blue of the paraonde wall seems to blend with the sky and the sea. Other important hallmarks of the facility are customer care and high quality of services offered, with everything boaters expect to find in a modern “Marina Resort.” Once past the outpost, by calling on VHF channel 09, you are joined by the mooring operator who guides the guest to the berth, dock, or floating docks. Berths are with dead-bulk traps, and columns in front of the berths supply drinking water and electricity. After mooring, at the reception office, you can receive all the useful information about life in the port and the area.
Capo d’Orlando Marina
is in fact a privileged connection point for the nearby Aeolian Islands and a gateway to discover small hill and mountain towns, part of the Nebrodi Park. Along the dock, there is a beautiful promenade, dotted with restaurants, bars, wine bars, boutiques, stores, nautical supplies, supermarket, personal services and do-it-yourself laundry. Many then services to the yachtsman: 24-hour mooring assistance, weather report, wi-fi, courtesy bikes, car rental, airport transfers, and reserved toilets and showers. There is no shortage of technical services either: shipyard, storage, drydocking, 110-ton travel lift, diving service, fuel station dispensing gasoline, diesel and subsidized diesel fuel.
Where it is located
Capo d’Orlando Marina
has a strategic location on the Sicilian coast just opposite the Aeolian Islands, from which it is only 14 miles away. The nearest airports are those of Palermo and Catania, while highway and railway station are in close proximity.
