At the Cannes Yachting Festival there were numerous world premieres launched by shipyards in the sailing industry. Also responding presently to the call for novelties was Ice Yachts, which launched an update of its 62-footer, namely the Ice 62 Targa, a luxury cruiser with the typical performance features of the Ice range.
ICE 62 Targa – The Project
Water lines start with the fast Ice 60, of which the Targa is a natural evolution. The aesthetics of the boat harkens back to the Ice 60 but is even more racy if you will, with a low deckhouse and slightly flared front volumes near the deck. The big news is in the cockpit, with the pressing of a T Top on which the mainsheet is deferred, obviously made of carbon as in the Ice tradition. A trendy structure in the blue water cruising world, useful for cleaning the cockpit and also providing some nice shade.
Making boat handling softer and easier even in fresh wind are the two rudder blades, another different feature from the Ice 60. the two blades work in tandem with a variable draft keel, 2.30/ 3.90, in order to achieve racer performance while sailing and at the same time ensuring entry into any port. The hydraulic keel system is manufactured by Cariboni specialists. In the stern, on the other hand, the boat sports a large garage tender that can accommodate a boat up to 3.10 meters long.
Interior
The shipyard offers the 3-cabin version, with 2 large bathrooms with a large open kitchen. While not sacrificing the fine finish of the joinery, Ice also offers lightened furniture panels for the 62 Targa to ensure that displacement is within certain parameters to stay in line with the boat’s performance cruiser philosophy. In the Ice Yachts tradition, the shipyard can study customizable solutions to make the boat’s interior unique.
