The registrants, from 20 nations come from: Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Croatia, Spain, France, England, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey, the United States and, of course, Italy; they will attend the Marina degli Aregai harbor with more than 200 boats from July 2 to 10, although some crews have already arrived. The U.S., Argentine, and Hong Kong teams began training to “get acquainted” with our sea.
“It is a great honor for the San Remo Yacht Club to have this 420 class world championship. It is not easy for a class that is widespread worldwide to entrust in a few years two competitions of this level to the same club, in fact it is the first time. We owe it to our passion and the collaboration of Marina degli Aregai with its space and availability. This year a special thanks goes to Frecciarossa, title sponsor of the event, and to the support of the Liguria Region and the Municipality of Santo Stefano al Mare,” comments the San Remo Yacht Club president Beppe Zaoli.
“It is an honor to host the 420 class World Championship for the second time in Marina degli Aregai. This edition will feature 209 crews from all over the world competing on one of the race courses that has become among the most renowned. As a Company we consider the sporting events of great formative and educational importance for all participants. I would like to thank President Beppe Zaoli of the San Remo Yacht Club for once again indicating our Marina as the setting for a high-level sailing event, and I wish a good wind to all the athletes who will participate in the 420 Frecciarossa World Championships and the Municipality of Santo Stefano al Mare,” comments the Dr. Beatrice Cozzi Parodi representing Marina degli Aregai.
