PERCH FLY40 ONE DESIGN, THE FUTURE IS HERE
Twelve meters, crew of 5, three times the wind speed without ever touching the water. This, according to Persico Marine, Italian excellence that built the latest Luna Rossas, is the future of “owner-driver” racing, where the owner is helmsman. It will be called Fly40 One Design the new Made in Persico class of flying boats, flanked by a newly designed racing circuit where ease of handling, safety and cost control are key.
Persico transferred his America’s Cup experience to the Fly40. Checco Bruni, helmsman of Luna Rossa, served as a consultant and ambassador for the project; Caponnetto Hueber (Mario Caponnetto is the “guru” of fluid dynamics), along with New Zealand-based Pure Design & Engineering (which collaborated with the defender Team New Zealand), handled the design.
Cutting-edge racing, rigid monotype, simple and safe piloting, and cost control are the goals of the circuit.
The Persico Fly40 has an overall length of 11.8 meters, a width of 3.4 meters, a weight of 1,600 kilograms, 100 square meters of sail area and a minimum take-off speed of 7 knots of true wind. Designed for a crew of 5, it can be easily towed and moved. All these features highlight the innovation, strength and boldness of a design that is safe, fun and ready to be experienced by owners.

After the groundbreaking innovations of the last America’s Cup and thanks to the performance of the AC75s, visionary and radical flying boats, we are witnessing a real paradigm shift: the time is right to elevate racing to a new dimension that will allow everyone to experience foil flying.”
The Persico Fly40 One Design is at the heart of an ambitious project: the setting up of an innovative circuit involving the best owner-drivers. Persico will manage logistics, support and “ready to fly” services.
