Performance or comfort? With these catamarans you have both

At Milan Yachting Week – The Digital Boat Show came the Excess Catamarans, a new brand from the giant Beneteau. Catamarans with a sporty yet cruising-conscious look, “standard but not too standard”: you no longer have to choose between performance and comfort. You can have both.

You can discover the whole range by visiting the Excess Punto 43 booth, dealer for Tuscany, Liguria and Lazio of the Excess Catamarans group, but in the meantime we can give you some information.

Let’s start with the “smallest,” theExcess 11 (11.33 x 6.59 m). The quotation marks are a must because, you know, on a catamaran, spaces are practically double. Stable, easily maneuverable, and capable of good performance under sail (the ratio of displacement to sail area helps: 9 tons and 77 sq. m. under white sails). Visit it to find out how for the Excess 11 the shipyard leveraged the experience of larger catamarans without sacrificing the comfort features needed for enjoyable cruising.

Nauta Design’s signature interior offers volume worthy of a larger boat, both in the saloon and in the cabins, for example it features a 2×2 meter bed in the master cabin and bathrooms with separate shower stalls! Outdoors, she offers comfort and space for conviviality in the large, cleared cockpit and a double wheelhouse that allows pleasant feelings at the helm as well as direct contact with the rest of the crew. We go up a little. TheExcess 12 (11.74 x 6.73 m) is the yard’s first bet. The goal with this boat was to change the ratio of sail area to displacement from the Lagoon 40, from which it inherits the platform, to make a more performance boat.

Successful goal, but without sacrificing comfort. The outer sections of the hull were then reshaped by VPLP specialists to create a slightly different overall aesthetic, but most importantly on the construction, a ton of weight was saved by going to rationalize the interior furnishings a with a different choice on materials. All without upsetting the DNA of a catamaran that remains for all intents and purposes cruising.

We advise you to go and discover the interior configurations, offered in 3 different layouts, which affect the habitability of the hulls while the central platform remains unchanged. DISCOVER HERE.

We close with the flagship of the range, theExcess 15 (14.76 x 8.03), capable of offering XXL spaces (its headroom is 125 square meters, better than a seaside villa). One only has to look at the interior fittings to realize this: they consist of an immense saloon-square in the superstructure with a 360-degree view of the sea thanks to the non-smoked windows.

Depending on the desired space, you can choose from a three-, four-, or even six-cabin double version. The catamaran’s 8-meter width provides a cockpit large enough to accommodate a nice table around which eight will fit comfortably. Its unique, balanced and seductive lines materialize the Excess spirit by combining aesthetics with the comfort of a large cruising catamaran. DISCOVER IT HERE.
