On the subject of foils and dinghies, the boat market in recent years has been churning out many new products. This world greatly intrigues young sailors, but not only them, and even sailing schools are beginning to look with interest at the evolution of this industry. For this reason, many manufacturers have raised the question of how to make these boats easy and affordable for everyone. In fact, not everyone is ready to sail technical boats like Moth and Waszp, and French brothers Raphaël and Erwan Censier, with their Gerys shipyard, have pondered this concept. Their idea was to make a boat that would be good for novices and also for sailing schools, from this concept the Gerys 4.7 was born.

THE GERYS 4.7 PROJECT

Already from the aesthetics, some distinctive features can be seen: the shapes are decidedly soft, almost not looking like those of a sailboat but definitely resembling those of an inflatable boat. Soft volumes in the bow, a wide hull and a spacious cockpit that can accommodate 3 crew, these are the characteristics of the Gerys 4.7. And then of course there are the foils, which are L-shaped but soft-angled, and in cool breeze conditions they always remain submerged to ensure the boat’s flight and do not have to be adjusted. If the wind is less than 8 knots, the boat can sail safely without a foil, since it is equipped with a classic daggerboard and its hull is also designed to go in displacement mode, and a Code Zero can also be rigged on the bowsprit if necessary.
