A new 47-foot catamaran to replace the Saona 47. Named Tanna 47 is the Fountaine Pajot that will be unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival (Sept. 7-12) and that until now has been developed and designed in great secrecy.
TANNA 47, SOME DATA
The name, Tanna, is borrowed from the Coral Sea island (in the Vanuatu archipelago) in the southwest Pacific Ocean. The cat will be 13.94 meters long and 7.70 meters wide, the same size as the Saona 47. The Berret Racoupeau studio designed a 129-square-meter sail plan for the Tanna 47 (77 square meters the mainsail, 52 the genoa), a couple of square meters more than the Saona.
The draft will be 1.20 m, and the boat will be powered in the standard configuration with 2 inboard 50-horsepower engines (two fuel tanks, 470 liters). The fresh water reserves, on board, are those for long navigation, 700 liters. Then again, the Tanna 47 is aimed at those who are looking for a boat on which to spend even very long periods of time on board, without sacrificing the comfort expected of a catamaran.
TANNA 47, THE INTERIOR
The boat is offered with two different interior layout configurations. The first, for private and family use, is the “Maestro.” A large master cabin developed along the entire port hull, with a dedicated bathroom and shower stall as well as a real desk/study along the broadside. Two doubles, each with a dedicated bathroom, find space on the starboard side.

A XXL “WELL” ON THE SECOND FLOOR
On the same plane is the outer cockpit, separated only ideally from the interior. But the big “gear shift” is on the flybridge, which is accessed via the command seat. Here you will find a Lounge area that is twice as large as that of the Saona, and is designed to be a very comfortable “first-floor” cockpit, with ergonomic seating and maneuvering at your fingertips. On the flybridge extension, space is found for 5 to 9 square meters of solar panels. On deck, the spacious (and now canonical) bow sundeck completes the layout.
