And that’s 25. The time has come again this year to launch the most prestigious award in Italian sailing, given since 1991 (stories of all past winners here). The Sailor of the Year is awarded to the one who, based on your preferences (which you can express in the poll below), turns out to be the sailor who most excited you. It will be your votes that will determine who makes the shortlist for the final victory, among which will be unveiled at the VELAFestival (May 4-7 in Santa Margherita Ligure: info on www.velafestival.com), During the Evening of Champions (Friday, May 5 at 7 p.m.), the 2017 TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year and all the winners of the other awards (Performance, #don’tcrackunderpressure, Innovation and Young).

THE “MAGNIFICENT 100” LIST
Rankings, articles and reports from you readers in hand, in the editorial office we have taken stock of the past season by identifying 100 “nominations” among racers, drifters, owners, sailors (the ocean sailors or those who showed off their “long sailing” skills), designers and builders. In some cases we also felt compelled to nominate boats with a special story (after all, every enthusiast knows that the boat has a soul and that without the boat the sailor can accomplish very little). Find out who the magnificent 100 are and then vote in the poll, which will be active until noon Feb. 15. The 50 most voted candidates will pass the first round. Below you will find, described by an infographic, how the Sailor of the Year works and the voting steps. For voting, which can only be given to one candidate, you will be asked to enter your e-mail.
