David Insurance has perfected, convention after convention with the most prestigious companies, the “tailor-made” body policy for boaters. Here’s why.
Year after year, the historic Milanese broker David Assicurazioni has perfected convention after convention with major, solid international companies, the all-inclusive policy tailored to boaters. is a comprehensive body policy that covers any damage to the boat and will let you sleep soundly. Both when you are away from your “beloved” and when sailing. For a fair price, the David policy, drafted by real experts in the field, offers the highest possible guarantees and quick and efficient handling of any claims.
15-YEAR AGE LIMIT
This year the policy was further improved: “We were able to move the boat’s age limit from 10 to 15 years,” began Riccardo Klinguely, head of David’s marine sector, “extending the limit beyond which a prior appraisal becomes mandatory.” Great news, by the way, for those looking for a good used car. With the Milan-based broker, Klinguely continues, “an appraisal can be booked at a discounted rate within the limit year in order to guarantee the same shipowner on a possible settlement of the claim, so that the ‘outlay’ is adequate and not arbitrarily reduced by the company involved.”
VALUE TO NEW AT 5 YEARS
There is another important change: “Thanks to agreements with our reference companies, we have extended the retention of the vessel’s value when new. It will no longer be calculated over three years but over five. In case of damage, even partial damage, reimbursement for parts to be replaced will be based on the prices of new: without the company applying so-called ‘degradation of use.'”
WHEN THE BODY POLICY IS “ALL-IN”
The formulas offered by David Insurance cover the boat anytime, anywhere. Whether sailing, stationary at the dock or ashore. Damage to the boat resulting from bad weather and a wide variety of causes (such as collision with semi-submerged objects) or occurring in an unprotected roadstead are situations that are often excluded unless explicitly called out in the policy-David includes them instead among the automatic supplementary guarantees for sailors.
For even more peace of mind, with the ‘machinery’ extension to the basic policy you will also be reimbursed in case of engine damage, whatever it may be and not just from obstruction of the cooling system (a clause already included).
A TIP TO AVOID PENALTIES
Valuable advice: “Once a claim has occurred, it is important to report it via PEC, within two days, to the Port Authority offices. This is even before the insurance company,” Klinguely explains. “You will thus avoid fines for late communication. The email should contain, in addition to the description, the place and date of the accident, a copy of the shipowner’s license, the boat’s sailing license (or details in the case of a foreign flag), the company and policy held, and, if possible, an estimate of the damage incurred. In addition to avoiding penalties, this will make it faster for the company to handle the claim.”
