The Arctic Ocean is in danger, not only from global warming, but also from pollution caused by oil extractions proliferating in this extreme part of our planet.
That’s why Greenpace launched the “Save The Artic” campaign, which already has more than 8 million adherents(www.savetheartic.org). A firm push for this petition was given by composer-pianist Ludovico Einaudi, who recently gave a stirring concert. He laid his plan on a drifting platform amid the semi-solid ice of Norway’s Svalbard Archipelago. He played “Elegy for the Arctic,” written for the occasion, a melody reminiscent of the “music” of water and the sound of the ice floe. A must-see video of the concert:
