When RM becomes elegant. Coming soon, the new 1370

Drawings were unveiled at the Paris show, and the first example of the new RM 1370 from French shipyard Fora Marine, which will replace the 1360 launched three years ago, will touch the water in the spring. The hull lines are the same, but otherwise this 14.70-meter outboard is all new, with a very current and elegant look that marks a turning point for the shipyard. Starting with the bow, which now features an elegant inverted prow well balanced by a long structural dolphin guard where the anchor and the tacking point for the large-surface sails (Code 0 and gennaker) are located. The freeboard has increased compared to the 1360 so as to provide even more spacious interior volumes. All this without weighing down the side profile, thanks in part to the extremely streamlined design of the deckhouse that ends just after the mast, so that the entire bow area is left free.

RM’s trademark practicality and comfort on deck is also a strong point in this 1370. The cockpit, classic in layout, which takes advantage of the maximum width of 4.50 meters, is a true parade ground, also enhanced by the fully open transom.
The width at the upper limits of the 14-meter category allows for a layout with two aft cabins and a true L-shaped galley distinct from the dinette with two opposing sofas and a mega-table with fold-down doors. Opposed to the kitchen is a large bathroom. In the bow is a beautiful master cabin with bathroom and large closet. The interior is illuminated with sea views from the large side and front windows that characterize the look of the new generation of RMs.

Credit for all this space goes to the form design of Marc Lombard, one of the great ocean hull designers, who adapted his sporty designs to the cruising characteristics of the RM 1370.

The powerful hull lines are supported by a generous sail plan with a 108% genoa of an impressive 59 sq m and a gennaker of 150 sq m. Variable is the choice of options for the drift plan. They range from the bichiglia, beloved of the French Atlantic, to the high-performance torpedo blade 3.40 meters deep to a version with a retractable keel that greatly reduces draft.

The construction is that exclusive to all RMs, a laminated wood shell that is coated with epoxy and fitted with a steel cage that encompasses the entire central bulb and moorland attachment area.
