What will the weather be over the weekend on our coasts? To help you decide whether to go out and “pull two edges,” venture on a small cruise or keep the boat in port, we asked Riccardo Ravagnan, Forecast & Services Manager at Meteomed, for help in revealing what the weather will be like along the Italian coast. Here is his “bulletin”:
A North African-driven anticyclonic field over the central Mediterranean strengthens further over the weekend, resulting in a phase of stability over the southern Italian basins. Meanwhile, an Atlantic pocket will move toward the Iberian Peninsula and France, while an unstable circulation harbinger of downpours or local afternoon thunderstorms will persist over the eastern Mediterranean.
TWENTY. Saturday weak of variable direction over Italian coasts, up to moderate from the south over the mid-Tyrrhenian Sea and Sicily Channel. Breeze character along coastal sectors during the afternoon hours. Strengthening from the NE over the Balearic Archipelago and Alboran Sea, moderate from the north over the Ionian side of Greece and the Aegean Sea. Sunday markedly strengthening from the SE over the Gulf of Lion, Sea and Channel of Sardinia, moderate from the north over the southern Adriatic, Ionian and Aegean Seas. Weak variable currents elsewhere instead.
MARI. Saturday shallow in most Italian basins, only the upper-middle Tyrrhenian Sea, Sea and Channel of Sardinia will be rough at times. Tending to very rough or agitated around the Balearic Archipelago, Alboran Sea, Aegean Sea near the northern coast of Crete, slightly rough elsewhere. Sunday nearly calm or slightly rough over Italy, only occasionally rough over western Liguria, Sea and Channel of Sardinia, Ionian offshore. Very rough over the entire western Mediterranean, up to rough in the Gulf of Lion and Aegean Sea.
