For those who do not yet know, Sardinia is one of Italy’s boating superpowers. The demonstration took place April 22-26 in Olbia at the first edition of the Nautical Fair of Sardinia.
Italy’s second-largest island wanted to claim that it is a paradise for boaters, year-round and not just in summer thanks to the quality of its services, starting with its port receptivity, which places it second in the number of berths, with 26,000 berths, 14,000 of which are housed in the 38 modern marinas. Northern Sardinia has the lion’s share, and its nautical capital is definitely Olbia.
We were there at the dock among the 50 booths and dozens of boats on the water in the Olbia Marina in the heart of what is the flagship city for northern Sardinian nautical tourism.
Here is a selection of what intrigued us most at the Sardinia Boat Fair.
The boats at the Olbia Nautical Fair
It has just been named among the top companies in Sardinia as a rental leader, NSS Yachting, which has its main base in Sardinia in “its” Cala dei Sardi port.
NSS Yachting displayed virtually the entire range of Lagoon catamarans for which it is the main Italian dealer. Starting with the brand new Lagoon 51 (m. 15.35 x 8.10), which represents the new generation of French catamarans and the entire range, nine models ranging from 12 feet to 23 feet.
Also on dock at the Olbia Fairgrounds were several Beneteau models from the Oceanis range for which NSS Yachting is a dealer, including theOceanis 46.1.
Also of interest are the management program offerings and the wide selection of used boats presented by the nautical leader in Sardinia.
Group Y Pro Sail, the other rental leader in Sardinia with offices in Olbia, Porto Rotondo, Portisco and presented models from the Dufour monohull range for which it is a dealer.
Starting with the flagship Dufour 61 and continuing with its very wide Dufour range from the new 10-meter 32 to precisely the 19-meter 61, articulated in no less than 8 models each available in three versions.
The treat presented by the Sardinian boat operator was the new Felci 62 catamaran with innovative and unexpected solutions.
Group Y Pro Sail in its booth also offered its management programs and rich second-hand offers.
Accessories and services at the Olbia Boat Show
Chartering a boat in Sardinia is one of the most desirable destinations for vacations by sea. NSS Charter presented its best models from the Beneteau (monohulls) and Lagoon (catamarans) ranges.
The other major Sardinian company, ProSail – Group Y, also presented its range of Dufour shipyard and motor models.
The port realities could not be missed with the Olbia Marina hosting the review. Also present were the super-ecological Cala dei Sardi marina, the Port of Alghero Consortium and the Marina di sant’Elmo.
In terms of accessories, the presence of Saim, one of the big names in motor accessories for all types of boats, stood out. He also previewed new products, azimuth pods and thrusters, from Hydromaster.
Also unveiled during the Sardinian Boat Fair was the arrival of the legendary Valdettaro refit yard, which from September will have a location in Olbia with a facility to accommodate medium- and large-sized boats over 40 meters and under 60.
Inflatables at the Olbia Nautical Fair
Sardinia is also an inflatable boat paradise. So we feel it is only fair to tell you what was on display at the Olbia Fair in this area.
In Olbia, SNO is a one-stop shop that combines shipyard, sales, charter and every service for boating. On the dock he presented Novamarine ‘s range of Black Shiver Line inflatable boats, an icon of the sporty, comfortable and stylish inflatable boat that has a range of 9 models from 9 meters to 22 meters with outboard, inboard and jet propulsion.
Still on the topic of inflatable boats, we liked the models of Sardinian Sea Water, which presented three models from 7.50 to 10 meters. Sea Waters combine the tradition of seamanship, attention to detail, and absence of superstructure with contemporary performance and design.
There was of course no shortage in the space reserved for inflatable boats SACS, which displayed one of its best-known models from its two ranges Strider (8 models) and Rebel (3 inboard-only models).
Also based in Olbia is the interesting G-Tender shipyard, which displayed two models, the G-Tender Otto.7 and Dieci 4. As a sea spider the G-Tender Otto.7 is 8.70 meters long with a maximum outboard horsepower of 600, it has the advantage of being customizable as well as the G-Tender Dieci 4. The latter, 14 meters long, equipped with an outboard with a maximum power 1350 hp is the ultimate in this category when it comes to performance and fittings.
From Nautica Levante Olbia two best sellers from the historic Lombard manufacturer Nuova Jolly, the open Prince 24 (m. 7.50 – max power 250 hp fb) and Prince 27 (m. 8.45 – max power 350 hp fb).
Highfield imported by NSS Yachting was the gem of the show. They are inflatable boats with the characteristic of having aluminum hulls instead of fiberglass, with four ranges and infinite models ranging from 2.4 to 8.6 meters. Low weight, high performance, great strength and a hull that can cope with any sea conditions. Perfect for summer sailing is the Highfield sport range with 12 models from 3.10 to 9.12 meters.
Previewed at the Molo 66 booth in Poltu Quatu were renderings of the new TS Rib R-4 model from the Seanfinity shipyard, which has a range of four fine models from 40 to 50 feet . The new super dinghy TS Rib R-4 is m long. 13.24 equipped with a cabin can be equipped with both inboard and outboard motors with a maximum power of 1,100 hp.
