Feel like getting back to measuring yourself under sail with your dockside neighbor? Are you missing some healthy sailing fun? Well then, don’t make any commitments because The Tyrrhenian’s busiest sail/race is coming back, the appointment is for July 24, 25, and 26 at Marina Calata Ovest in Chiavari, a port that is part of the Marinedi network. Our sailing event will be the first sailing event after the lock down period, and with it the VELAFestival will also return. We will have fun at sea all together, with any boat, from dinghies to maxis, without tonnage certificates and in the absolute pleasure of experiencing the sea.
Entries to date already exceed 40, and considering that the last few days are often the most intense, the goal of reaching 100 boats is by no means a pipe dream. Three days of love for the sea and sailing, with triangle and coastal courses, with a Challenge Trophy to be awarded to the boat that has excelled over the three trials. The TAG Heuer VELACup proper, with a dedicated awards ceremony, will take place. Saturday, July 25. All in compliance with current Covid 19 regulations.
Welcoming the VELA Cup sailors will be the town of Chiavari, which will offer some conventions and discounts with several downtown businesses, which we will communicate soon on www.velacup.it . For those unfamiliar with Chiavari, it is a seaside town with one of the most beautiful “carruggi,” the street that runs through the historic center, in Liguria. A place where good food is mixed with sea air and a safe harbor to land.
