One more week. Then, exactly on May 5, the fourth edition of Italy’s only sailing and sea festival, TAG Heuer VELAFestival 2016, will kick off. Until Sunday, May 8, for four days of fun and passion, Santa Margherita Ligure will become the capital of the sea and the most beautiful boats in the Mediterranean.
Why come to TAG Heuer VELAFestival 2016? There are at least 8 good reasons to be there:
1- To spend a fabulous weekend in Santa Margherita Ligure. The town is an exceptional location: the waterfront and harbor are enveloped by the event, which has no entrance fee. For four days Santa Margherita Ligure becomes the capital of sailing and the most beautiful boats in the Mediterranean.
2- To follow many must-see events. From morning to night, for all four days of the event, you can watch live shows with interviews and stories from the many great sailors passing through VELAFestival.
3- To participate in or attend the VELA Cup. The big sailing event of VELAFestival is already the most crowded regatta in the Tyrrhenian Sea as well as a party at sea. And it is open to all boats of all sizes and shapes, with no limitations.
4- To see the most beautiful boats in the world. Dozens of new boats at sea ready to visit, told by the people who build them. For every pocket and need, from 3 to 30 meters. Also on the dock are the “Cult” boats, the most famous and admired.
5- To discover many types of boats and hulls right on the beach. In the VELAFestival’s Beach Village you can touch a dinghy or a “small” boat, monotypes and multihulls, Sups and canoes, as well as do sea trials and relax on the beach.
6- To entertain children with sailing and seamanship school. Take a youth or family boat ride with an experienced instructor but also go aboard a famous yacht and learn how to climb to the masthead, playing pirates.
7- To relax by the sea and taste good food. You admire 100 meters of images from the spectacular exhibition on the history of boating, enjoy the best sailing movies “shot” on a big screen, relax on the large terrace by the sea.
8- To purchase nautical accessories, clothing and services. Entering the largest nautical store in which you can touch (and buy directly) all state-of-the-art nautical products. Admission and times Admission to the Tag Heuer VELAFestival 2016 in Santa Margherita Ligure is free.
Opening hours: Thursday: 12-7 pm. Friday: 10am-7pm. Saturday: 10-11:30 p.m. Sunday: 10am-6pm.
