The cruiser/racer according to Wally. The first details and images of the new wallywind Wally range have been unveiled , and the first wallywind110 is already under construction.

The three sail models measure from 110 to 150 feet in length (33.42 to 45.72 m LOA) and offer a wide range of possibilities for owners who like to “race” but do not intend to give up the comforts of a blue water cruiser.

Wallywind 110 – The first Wally fast cruiser

Construction of the first unit in the wallywind110 range has begun, and the launch is scheduled for May 2024. The hull, made entirely of carbon, will be detailed by Wally laminators, who have always been at the forefront of this construction technology. It also features the famous Wally easy-sailing system (simplified sail management), now widely adopted throughout the industry.

The project once again combines Wally’s know-how with the naval architecture of Judel/Vrolijk & co, the firm that has signed off on some of the fastest sloops currently sailing. The fruit of this collaboration is a boat with essential and elegant lines, typical of Wally, capable of offering stability and performance equal to, precisely, a Wally.

Wallywind110 – A Grand Touring of the Sea

“The wallywind110 is the equivalent of a Grand Tourer in the automotive world,” says Stefano de Vivo, Wally Managing Director. “It is a long-range ‘cruising machine,’ powerful but smooth at the same time and always ready, for those who wish, to transform into an avid racer; the ideal boat for an experienced sailor, who perhaps comes from 60- to 80-foot boats and wishes to make the leap to 100-footers for more comfort.”

Luca Bassani, Founder and Chief Designer Wally, confirms, “The 110 is a true hybrid, because it combines the volumes and comforts of a deckhouse yacht with the spirit and performance of a flush-deck racing boat. The high bulwark, in fact, masks, with an incredible camouflage effect, the raised salon that hides the engine room underfoot, leaving all the advantages of the deckhouse, without compromising the aesthetics.”

Wallywind110 – Technology

True to Wally’s founding principles, the yacht is a perfect mix between a blue water cruising boat, ideal for four couples who wish to sail anywhere in the world independently and safely, and a racing boat capable of engaging owners and crews on the most celebrated race courses.

Technology, which according to Wally’s philosophy must always add value to the browsing experience, is the undisputed protagonist: in addition to the hull, in fact, the high-performance rig is also made entirely of carbon, and there is a choice of three types of keel: a 4.5 m fixed keel, a 3.95-6.10 m telescopic keel, and a 4.50-6.80 m hi-tech lifting. Indeed, not surprisingly, the ballast-to-weight ratio of 40 percent.

Other key technical innovations include: the use of lightweight lithium-ion batteries and auxiliary equipment, multiple high-pressure hydraulic pumps, and double tiller. The wallywind110 is also equipped with the Wally underwater anchor and hydraulic system with Magic Trims for adjusting mainsail and jib sheets.

Wallywind110 – Exterior

The purest lines embrace large spaces dedicated to social and guest life, starting with the huge 80-square-meter cockpit, twice the size of those found on boats of this length, which is on a single level and extends across the beam to the tall, secure bulwark that replaces the classic bulwark. The layout is fully customizable and offers seating for 15 people. The only fixed elements are the twin carbon wheels of the rudders and the entry drum for the crew.

One of the most interesting aspects of the deck layout is the removable furniture, inspired by the golden age of large sailboats. Each seat, lounger, deck chair and table can, in fact, be removed to prepare the wallywind110 for competition. An additional design element in pure Wally style is the deep, sheltered aft “sea terrace.”

A huge compartment hidden under the deck can accommodate a tender up to 4 meters long. In this way, the transom remains free and available to guests, who can comfortably bathe while also taking advantage of a hydraulic ladder that then retracts back into the hull.

The customization continues below deck: thanks to the engine room located below the salon, guests have a large, refined open space for conversation, dining, and work. A skylight runs longitudinally across the entire low deckhouse, making natural light, which also enters copiously from the portholes and windows, the star of this bright, cool area.

The large forward master stateroom provides several layouts, including one with a walk-in closet, one with separate his and her bathrooms, or one with relaxation seating. Three more guest suites are provided on board, plus two cabins for the crew and one reserved for the captain.

In terms of finishes and furnishings, Wally offers a sporty bleached wood interior with carbon details, but the final decision is up to the owner who can customize them to his or her liking.

Wallywind130 and 150 – Giants full carbon

The two largest boats in the wallywind range are the 130′ and 150′: the former – equipped with a deckhouse that forms a true raised salon, creating a single environment between outdoor and indoor spaces – is designed for the owner coming from boats around 100 feet.

The 150-foot flagship of the new range, however, marks the beginning of a new era for large sailing yachts. Because only Wally has the experience and skills to build a boat of this size totally in carbon fiber, the wallywind150 will have unbeatable performance especially in light airs: while other boats of this size generally need more than 12 knots of wind to sail, the wallywind150 will be able to do so in only 6-7 knots of air, thanks to its exceptionally light displacement.

“The 130 and 150 are clearly intended for shipowners with a passion for sailing and the sea who want to sail to every corner of the world with maximum comfort and 5-star amenities combined with exhilarating performance,” said Stefano de Vivo, “but they will also surely appeal to young people who love speed and identify with Wally’s brand values.”
