Thirty-three feet and more of dream boat. The new Wally 110 Barong D, the brainchild of Frers Studio, was launched in Marina di Ravenna: is the third superyacht for an owner “true to the line” (in 2000 it was the 80-foot Barong B, in 2005 the 94′ Barong C). The very wide hull makes the boat perform, but its competitive attitude is well masked by the classic and elegant lines. Luca Bassani, owner of Wally Yachts, who took care of the interiors and in collaboration with Frers the exterior lines, said, “We were able to produce a 33.51-meter ‘full-optional’ boat (aboard which the owner and family spend many months of the year) weighing only 65 tons, a full two less than originally planned and about 35 percent lighter than boats of similar size.”

HI-TECH TO THE CORE
The 3D technology used made it possible to optimize both the design phase of the yacht and its construction, which took place, as far as the hull is concerned, in pre-impregnated composite. Also hi-tech are the electrical system and the hydraulic system (350 bar maximum pressure, equivalent to 3,500 Newtons per square centimeter), equipped with solenoid valves controlled by software that improves the speed of maneuvering. The interiors were made of different blocks to reduce weight and increase build quality.

Every detail has been taken care of, from the carbon masting and the carbon and titanium deck equipment, from the teak covering the flush deck to the lighting of the spacious interiors. The deck features a sleek and slim deckhouse, extensive sunbathing areas, and a very large cockpit with a “racer” look.

Very different in philosophy, on the other hand, are the oak and carbon interiors, geared toward cruise use. Forward is the master cabin, with two large separate beds, a double guest cabin on both starboard and port sides, and a large saloon. The crew area is aft for added privacy.
After two weeks of sea trials, the boat will be delivered to owners at the end of May. www.wally.com
