A system to produce power from the canting keel when at anchor in the roadstead? It has just been patented. In the video we show you Daniele Bossi of Hytem explains the workings of the system, conceived, “sketched” by architect Roberto Curtò together with Dr. Marie Claire Fiala and of Hytem Hybrid Technologies Eco Motors.
HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS
Simply put, it is an interesting prototype “keel generator.” The canting keel, left free in a neutral position, is able to generate electricity by harnessing the natural roll of the boat at anchor. Through the accumulators, this energy can later be used to run the electric motor inserted into the sailboat’s bulb. The cantig keel (canting keel) can naturally be used as such in navigation by harnessing the stored energy for its electrical displacement. For now it is only a model (on display at the Genoa Boat Show) but the idea, in our opinion, is not bad at all. What do you think?
