Oceanic sailing? It lands on your pc with an ultra-realistic game: it’s called Sailaway and will allow you to brave all the seas of the world. Honestly, we can’t wait to try what is already being called by insiders “the most realistic sailing simulator ever made”!
FREEDOM
The key word is “freedom.” Freedom to sail anywhere. You will be able to deal with the oceans in a way that is incredibly close to reality. Suffice it to say that virtual weather conditions will replicate, in real time, real weather conditions (thanks to NOAA data).
You will also be able to control your boat in every single maneuver, from furling to mainsail carriage. “Certainly many sailing simulators already exist,” said Richard Knol, the developer of Sailaway, “but most of them focus on racing and do not allow you to engage in ocean sailing.

HYPERREALITY
To make a Pacific or Atlantic crossing will take weeks. Weeks in which you will sail even if you are offline, thanks to the course you preset that will still be modified by currents and weather. You can and should study currents, charts to understand shoals and reefs, but most importantly the weather. You will learn how to dictate your boat for various conditions, initially, through detailed tutorials: you will also be able to get a glimpse of what is happening on board via such and smartphone, because Sailaway is intended to be multiplatform.
