It was only a matter of time and the Optimists would also experiment with foils. After all, the images here convey infectious fun, and the size of the Optimist is ideal for experimenting with new solutions. The video was released online by Sweden’s Axel Rahm and shows an Optimist in prolonged phases of full foiling.

The news follows the one we gave you a few weeks ago and confirms the Optimist as a perfect laboratory boat for experimenting with alternative solutions on hydrodynamics and appendages. In this case, in fact, the classic centreboard has been replaced by an inverted T-shaped appendage.
