We have just returned to the newsroom and from a (strangely) sunny Milan we want to shout it out loud to you: thank you! Thank you to all of you who came to TAG Heuer VELAFestival 2019, who crowded the docks of the Santa Margherita Harbor from May 2 to 5.
WHAT HAPPENED AT THE VELAFESTIVAL IN TWO MINUTES
Thanks to all the exhibitors and partners (as well as our friends at TAG Heuer) who believed in the event: we will tell about their “goodies” among boats, accessories, services in the next issue of the Sailing Newspaper.
Thanks to the institutions, invaluable help, the mayor of Santa Paolo Donadoni and the commander of the Port Authority. Especially this year, after the storm surge that devastated the Tigullio Gulf last October.
The Gulf should also be thanked, along with the weather: although it prevented us from giving the start of the second day of the VELA Cup on Sunday, it left us three days of respite (even sunshine on Friday!) while it thundered and hailed in the rest of Liguria.
Thanks to the many sailors, planners and designers who were featured in our events over the course of the four-day event. Like Dan Lenard and Marcello Persico, at Matteo Zaccagnino’s conference “The New Challenges of Sailing,” or like Sofia Tomasoni, Carlo De Paoli, Ambrogio Beccaria, Mauro Pelaschier, the Caprera Sailing Center guys, Matteo Miceli, Dario Noseda, Vittorio d’Albertas and Pietro Pinucci, Francesco Belvisi, Nicola De Gemmis, Fabio and Marina Portesan, Andrea Fanfani, and brothers Giacomo and Francesco Galimberti.
Many of them were honored at the Sailor of the Year evening with the great Mino Taveri, the others helped enliven the VELAFestival events area.
Thanks to the more than 120 TAG Heuer VELA Cup boats that competed in the Tigullio on Saturday-a big thank you is also deserved by the crews who, skipping Sunday’s sail, participated in our dockside tug-of-war competition.
Thanks to the team at Medplastic, a bastion of anti-plastic awareness and protection of the Mediterranean Sea.
