tag heuer sailing cup med odyssey

“All good things come to an end,” wrote Geoffrey Chaucer. And the TAG Heuer VELA Cup Med Odyssey has also come to its conclusion: the Mediterranean’s busiest virtual adventure, more than 53,000 boats registered, gave us two weeks (and 4,600 miles) of pure fun.

Aboard very fast 100-foot Maxis, we left Genoa on May 15., to the Balearic Islands, then the Strait of Gibraltar, the “musata in the Atlantic” rounding Madeira, back to the Mediterranean with the African coasts, down to below Sicily, then Malta, Crete and the final stretch to Cagliari, the regatta’s arrival venue, in honor of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team, which has its base in the capital.

It is no coincidence that in fact, at the awards ceremony, among the many guests, we had a special guest: Max Sirena, Team Director and Skipper of Luna Rossa.

With this first TAG Heuer VELA Cup Med Odyssey, we discovered that you can have fun, sailing, even from your couch at home and from the office.

And the fact that the winner of the Italian ranking, Fabio Ghezzi aka Baker@221b, has only gone sailing once in his entire life shows that anyone can do it.

Below is the video of the Day of Champions, check out how the awards ceremony went:
