Some people say that electric-powered navigation is the future, but they are wrong. It is the present. We were impressed by the system of Daniele Bossi of Hytem, who “electrified” his Far East 26. The Chinese boat was equipped with a common 1 kW generator that Bossi installed instead of a regular outboard and that alone holds a Torqeedo electric pod.
EASY AND. IN THE FUTURE INDISPENSABLE?
This is a really interesting and easy solution from the point of view of installation also because, it is rumored, there is a European law (who knows if it will be implemented in Italy as well) that in the future will oblige to perform mooring maneuvers in ports through exclusive use of electric thrusters.
AUTONOMY?
The autonomy of the system? It depends on how you will use the boat and how fast you want to sail it. In this short demonstration video, Bossi explains everything there is to know. What do you think? Utopia? Some are not of the same opinion, as Bossi is working, at the request of a shipowner, on the “electrification” of a 64-foot sailboat! www.hytem.it
