As soon as it is delivered to its owner, this impressive vessel will become the largest sailboat built in the Netherlands. We are talking about the 106-meter whose project name is Oceanco Y712 Project Solar, “Paparazzied” during the first sea trials in Rotterdam. A huge sailing ship (how else could we call it) with three decks and a 15-meter beam, with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure: it will be able to accommodate in unbridled luxury 12 guests in six cabins. When the three wing sails will not be used, the hull will be propelled by two Caterpillar diesel engines with which it looks like it can reach 17.5 knots.
“SPIED” BY DRONE
FLAG OF THE CAYMAN ISLANDS
Built by Oceanco to the standards dictated by Lloyd’s Registry, we obviously do not know the name of the lucky owner, only that Project Solar will fly the flag of the Cayman Islands. Other details are unknown to us, as the Dutch shipyard has remained more than “buttoned up” on the subject. What we can show you, however, is the video of the boat in the water taken by a drone above and the beautiful photos that appeared on Dutch Yachting’s Facebook page.
