henHis name is Guirec Soudée, he is from Brittany and 24 years old. His love is named Monique and is one and a half years old. No, she is not his mistress, don’t think wrongly. Neither is his daughter, but a red hen originally from the Canary Islands (the story brings to mind that of Matteo Miceli and his hens, the Blonde and the Blackberry, who disappeared in the Atlantic).

photoThey both live together on Yvinec, a 1985 Scorpion 9 on which Guirec decided to embark on a round-the-world sailing trip. He has already made the Atlantic crossing and has now sailed for a year in the North Sea.

And just this year on the ice is recounted in this very sweet (and gorgeous) video: Monique is the real star, she lets the astonished Inuit who have never seen a hen in Greenland look at her, she befriends the husky cubs. And on board he is a true sailor, even helms.
