Five used boats from 9.50 to 20.15 m
Comet 303 – 9.50 m – Vallicelli’s “touch” can be seen
The first of the used boats we propose is a great classic. The hull in question requires some minor work, but rearranged it could acquire good value.
Designed in 1988 by the Vallicelli studio, Comet 303 (9.50 x 3.15 m) is one of the last models produced by Comar and later reproduced by Media Ship, which markets it without substantial changes from the original version. The 303 remains a hull with excellent sailing potential, thanks to the more than 56 sq. m. of sail area for 3800 kg displacement and the clean, unforced water lines.
The interior layout, with the toilet aft and two separate cabins, is still current; the counter-molded furniture gives that hi tech touch to the whole and limits surface maintenance. Very large charting area and kitchen. The model we propose is powered by Volvo 18 hp. This is a sailboat with ten-year overhaul to be done: antifouling, anti-osmosis, the mast to be rigged. A good investment!

Grand Soleil 43 – 13.39 m – Fast, comfortable, safe
The second of the used boats for sale in our marketplace is a perfect compromise between safe boating, comfort and performance. The mix that has always distinguished the projects of J&J Design by Slovenian Japek Jacopin. We are talking about a Grand Soleil 43 (13.39 x 4.02 m), in production until 2008.
The sail plan is generous (84 sq. m. with white sails), the lead bulb long and available in two drafts (2.10 and 2.35 m): the boat goes fast in light and moderate wind conditions, with a more than satisfactory upwind angle. The deck is well thought out and makes the boat manageable even with a small crew. In the cockpit a great classic of the 2000s, the large wheel helm.
Below deck, the interior consists of three cabins (the master cabin in the bow and mirrored guest cabins in the stern), two bathrooms, a galley, chart area, and opposing seating table.
The model we propose, with a short draft, is from 2000 and is for sale in Marina di Ravenna. It is equipped with every convenience and flies the Belgian flag.

Dufour 450 GL – 13.50 m – Dufour Style Comfort
Let’s move on to the third of the boats used in the review. The Dufour 450 GL (13.50 x 4.35 m) is a 13-and-a-half-meter Felci signature that immediately inspires a lot of substance. The boat comes from the pencil of the Felci studio, and the waterline length is high, coupled with a significant maximum beam.
Maneuvering, combined with the proper sail plan, is easy to handle in a small crew, and there is no shortage of storage space. The total weight is just over 10 thousand pounds, with ballast ranging from 2,800 to 3,000 pounds depending on the type of keel you choose, whether short (1.8) or long (2.2 m). The weight gain also allows the sail area to be reduced to some extent without losing performance, resulting in greater ease of maneuvering and agility in both light airs and stronger winds.
The layout is quite traditional, but what sets the boat apart are some small details that give it even more of a concrete boat feel. Very useful is the slot for the chartplotter that comes out from under the center table and swivels to the two wheelhouses as desired. Ensuring the passage of air and light below deck are three good-sized, traditional-type, non-flush hatches, a good choice in terms of functionality and rationality in exterior lines. The standard conformation is three cabins, with two aft divided by a tunnel where the batteries are hidden. The generously sized forward cabin maintains the same height as the whole boat, about 2 meters.
The model for sale, visible in La Spezia, is from 2014 and is equipped with every convenience in its three-cabin, two-bathroom configuration. The engine is Volvo 75 hp, has a bow thruster, heater, sprayhood, gangway, fullbatten mainsail and furling genoa, among other things.

Amel 55 – 17.30 m – The perfect boat for traveling the world
The fourth of the used boats on our marketplace represents the dream of many sailors. It is in a sense the ultimate boat for living aboard and traveling the world. TheAmel 55 (17.30 x 4.99 m) was launched in 2011 to a design by Berret/Racoupeau, and the model for sale is in perfect condition.
The hull is made of composite, fiberglass fabric and isophthalic resin (monolithic layered): the molding is done manually in transverse and longitudinal cross layers, with two-thirds overlap. The structure includes floor mats made of polyurethane foam/composite and laminated to the hull (as well as bulkheads), ensuring perfect stress distribution. The bridge features a balsa sandwich inside instead of monolithic resin. The ballast is cast iron. The masts are made of aluminum (with polyurethane plating) and rest on the deck: solid oak ferrules are provided beneath them.
The deck is in pure Amel style and includes a central cockpit with wheelhouse and entrance to the saloon protected by a deck house that is perfect in challenging sea conditions, but also in Mediterranean situations thanks to the ventilation provided by the two upper plexiglass portholes (useful for checking the mainmast) and the front central one; a practical sliding hard top then goes to completely cover the table and U-shaped bench. To the left of the cockpit is the excellent helmsman’s station, which, in addition to having a comfortable seat that is excellent for watch duty, has all the necessary instrumentation, both for navigation and maneuvering.
Below deck, the saloon is accessed via the staircase equipped with 4 convenient steps and a side handrail: to the left is the galley, which makes no regrets about the one at home. The peninsula separating it from the dining area houses the refrigerator and freezer: additional refrigeration space can be placed under the starboard sofa. Toward the stern are the sinks, while the stove and microwave oven are on the broadside.
The large table has an extension for additional guests: it can also be lowered to make an extra double bed well protected by the sofa backs. To starboard, the navigation station is provided with the necessary space for both electronic instruments and charts. Toward the bow, the master cabin (in the three-cabin version) has a dedicated bathroom with separate shower and freshwater electric toilet.
To access the two aft cabins (or the optional large owner’s cabin), one passes through a walk-through cabin that houses the guard berth: its anti-roll sheets are supported by steel cables, a safeguard against accidental falls. The starboard cabin (with direct access to the shared bathroom) is equipped with a double bed, while the port cabin is equipped with two single bunks that can be easily converted into a double.
There is also a laundry space that houses a washer-dryer. The furniture’s high-gloss finish (as many as 13 coats of polyurethane varnish) may not meet everyone’s taste, but maintenance is super-easy: just go over and then polish.
The model for sale is from 2016 and is ready to sail, perfect.

Franchini 63 S – 20.15 m – Peterson and Franchini. What a mix!
We close our review of used boats with a true connoisseur’s boat. We are talking about a Franchini 63 S (20.15 x 5.28 m).
With this 2004 project, developed, like its “sister” “L Line,” on the hull lines of that wizard of ship design Doug Peterson, began the collaboration between Massimo Franchini and the Floris studio of Fano. “S” stands for Sport but also for Space. A performance boat (this one has a carbon mast) to enjoy cruising and racing without sacrificing an ounce of comfort.
The living area is an open space with a C-shaped kitchen a square with a dining room that occupies the entire beam of the boat. Comfortable and streamlined aft master stateroom with bed, desk and two sofas, with private bathroom and shower stall. In the bow are two twin cabins, each equipped with a bathroom.
The model for sale is from 2009, can be seen in eastern Liguria, and is obviously a real houseboat equipped with every convenience.
