UCINA’s new president Saverio Cecchi (elected with 99 percent of the vote; we told you who he is here ) after meeting with Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Danilo Toninelli in Genoa, he “gave himself away” to photographers. The snapshot above depicts the two smiling and placid, but they both know there is a lot of work to be done.
First and foremost is the Central Telematic Registry of Recreational Boating, which has been under experimentation since last April: it is to be fully operational in November, according to UCINA, and should be entirely similar to the automobile registry. Mirroring the central registry’s telematic boaters’ information desks (STEDs). Real agencies located throughout the country and in telematic connection with the central database – serving users for all operations of registration and deregistration of recreational units in the relevant registers and the issuance of navigation documents.
Finally, the Corrective Decree to the Boating Code, aimed at completing the regulatory simplification work achieved by Legislative Decree 229/2017. Among UCINA’s requests are the simplification of some safety equipment requirements for vessels sailing in Italian SAR waters and equipped with geolocation devices, the distinction between the figure of the professional sailing instructor and amateur sports activities, and the recognition of dry ports as recreational boating facilities. Not the least of which is the issue of unlicensed driving of some 2-stroke direct-injection engines, which have been excluded to date.
Dear president and minister, we are waiting for you! Good work to you both!
